The Apostle Paul wrote, “When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior. Because of his grace, he declared us righteous and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life. This is a trustworthy saying, and I want you to insist on these teachings so that all who trust in God will devote themselves to doing good. These teachings are good and beneficial for everyone.” (Titus 3:4-8 NLT)

Paul wrote this message to TitusPaul appointed Titus as overseer to the Church in Crete.“I am writing to Titus, my true son in the faith that we share. May God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior give you grace and peace. I left you on the island of Crete so you could complete our work there and appoint elders in each town as I instructed you.”Titus 1:4-5 NLT to highlight God’s promise of new life in Jesus Christ.  Paul’s declaration of God’s greatest promise is as relevant and personal today as it was 2000 years ago. Throughout the Bible, God’s message to you is clear: your full trust must be in the Lord Jesus. Trust will be fleeting if it is based upon your own or another person’s abilities, a successful career, polished words, or a powerful nation. Only your trust in God’s word, His character, nature, and His finished work of salvation through Jesus Christ endures for all eternity.

Receiving God’s Promises

You will spend the rest of your life negotiating many pathways. Your responsibility in discerning God’s direction for your life is to receive His promises, and anchor your trust in Christ through every adventure. God does not have a trite formula for trust, so His answer to you may be “My grace is sufficient”The Apostle Paul understood the dangers of pride, and wrote God’s response to him:“To keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud. Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, ‘My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.’ So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.”(emphasis added)2 Corinthians 12:7-9 NLT“I AM all you need”Paul recognized God as his Source for every need, and taught the Philippians to give all the glory to God.This same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus. Now all glory to God our Father forever and ever! Philippians 4:19-20 NLT, or simply “Trust Me.”Zechariah wrote “. . . this message from the LORD: ‘You will succeed, not by military might or by your own strength, but by my spirit.’ “Zechariah 4:6 GNT
